What are the features of good packaging?

Is packaging for children's clothing important to you as a parent?

  • I'm working on a college project on baby/children's clothing packaging and was wondering if you could tell me what matters to you as a parent, specifically children's socks, tights, underwear and sleepwear... - do you prefer the item to be in a plastic bag or are you happy to have things on hangers or on a hook? - if you're buying socks or tights how would you like to see them packaged? - is it easier for you to find the size you need if the sizes are colour coded? - does it matter to you if the size is on the front or the back of the packaging? - is it easier to shop when things are coloured according to gender? - is there a particular shop that you think has amazing packaging? - would you like to see matching items available on the packaging? - do you think packaging matters or are you more interested in the product? I'd really really appreciate your feedback as it'd help me so much! If you have anything else you'd like to add, please let me know! Also, please let me know if you wouldn't be happy for me to use any of your quotes for my project.

"is it easier for you to find the size you need if the sizes are colour coded?" No, but (and this veers a bit away from your question, possibly) it is easier to find the right size if what the size actually is is clear. If it's marked "Medium" that's not much to go on. "4-6X" is a bit better, but I want to know what weight and height range they think 4-6X is. Plastic bags are nice for fragile tights etc but I do want to be able to touch stuff; there should be a display item, or it should be easy to open the bag, inspect the item, and return it to the bag.

I don't really care how they are packaged. Everything is washable....and as far as size/gender are concerned, I can read so that's not an issue.

The less,the better.

I will tell you until now I have never given the packaging a single thought. I have bought the socks on the little hangers at places like gymboree and Children's place and in the bag of Haynes from walmart. To me the biggest thing is price with how the socks themselves actually look. We usually get the ones in the bag because they are cheaper and you get more. I do get the cute ones on hangers that you buy an individual pair on occasion also

1. it doesnt really matter. 2. doesn't matter 3. no, i always check the tag anyways to make sure its right! 4. front would be best. 5. yeah i suposed so. 6. nope. 7. yes. 8. product is more important, but the packaging should be approachable.

Really the less I bring home the better. I don't even need a hanger just the shirt. Plastic bags, fancy packaging don't mean much for me.
