Moms who coslept with baby in the same bed, when did you stop and move baby to his/her own bed?
-
Do you think putting the baby to bed in his own bed at 13 months and stopping the all night long breastfeeding at this age will make the baby less healthy, more emotional problems from lack of touch, etc? Or more comfortable falling asleep alone at daycare for naps? My husband thinks I should continue to hold the baby all night long, allowing the baby to use my breasts as pacifiers all night, when the baby refuses to sleep during his nap at daycare without me and my boobies. I found myself sleeping on 10 inches of mattress and unable to roll over and said, I've had enough, I want to sleep alone. Of course, I miss my baby using the boobs as a lovey, but he's not even drinking milk, he's just pacifying. He slept on his own last night and it was fine. he woke up and cried 10 minutes but fell back asleep in his crib. Moms who coslept, when and how did you transition baby to his/her own bed?

Answer:
I have never coslept (even though I am still nursing my 11.5 month old, he has always slept in his crib), but I vote that if your husband is so keen on the cosleeping and your son is no longer really nursing, but just pacifying himself, then your HUSBAND can lay there and let the baby suck on HIS nipples all night. I would expect that will put a quick end to this discussion for you. Good luck!

I've co-slept with 3 and soon to be 4. At 6 months, to the day, I put them into their own bed. No transitioning to it, I simply put them into their own bed and that's it.
I think you're doing the right thing. It sounds like you and the baby are both ready to stop cosleeping. Take advantage of this opportunity to gain some independence. If you discourage your son when he seems willing and ready to take this step, it will be much harder for him to do it later. If your husband thinks the baby needs to be held all night long, he should volunteer to do it.
She's 7, and she's still with me. Family bed. Of course, I'm single and it's a queen size. And yet with all the dollies and animals, it's getting crowded. But she is also comfortable alone in her own bed. I also didn't let her suck on my breast all night. I nursed her until she was three, but she only nursed when needed, she didn't use me as a pacifier.
Well around 3-4 months, my baby was taken out of my room, in which he was in a bassinet, and placed in a crib in his own room. He had that thing that you stick on the crib, that plays music, and glows in the dark and spins around with the little things dangling, then I took the dangly things down at 5 months and just left the music maker thing on the crib. Then when we moved he slept in his same crib just fine until I went to the hospital, then he wouldn't sleep in the crib, but he would sleep on this little rainbow pull out cushion. He would jump out of his crib, so I knew it was time for the bed. He was sleeping on the cushion, but then I just let him back in the bed with me, just recently, and he is 2 1/2. But I just found out that he is severely autistic, so it's hard to get him to go to bed, but when he finally gives in , he comes in my room and gets in the bed with me.
Time to break the baby of using you as a pacifier. Be prepared for a few miserable nap times. I had a similar issue, not because of the pacifier nursing, but because I had to suddenly wean because of surgery. You will just have to let the baby cry and scream himself to sleep. It will be draining and miserable but has to be done. We also co-slept but they were out of the bed by around 1 year. You will be a better parent for having a decent night sleep after he is used to the new way.
