How much to charge for part time child care?

How much would you charge Full & Part Time Care Mixed each week?

  • I am caught in the middle on how much to charge this parent. She has two toddlers, ages 1 and 3 yrs old. She is needing care during the week mostly for 4 1/2 hours each day, but then says there could be some days she needs full time care. How I do my pay, is I write up a contract with the hours each parent is needing care for their child and go based off of that pay each week. Every monday, when they drop their child off, they pay me before leaving for work for the week or weeks ahead. How can I come up with a figure for this mother if she doesnt know what days she is needing full time or part time care? My Full Time Rate is $125 each week per child My Daycare Hours: 7am to 5:30pm Any advice?

    I would advise charging her the part time rate at the beginning of the week. Then on Friday if there has been additional time, she would pay the remainder then on Friday or the next Monday. If you don't have an hourly rate, I'd say a full time day is approx. 9 hours so half would be 4.5 hours so charge half for the part time.

if you are on a 5 day schedule that would break down to about $25 per day. Figure out what the breakdown of your halftime rate is and then use that to figure her costs. IF hald time was 15 and she needed 2 days of fulltime then charge her $95 (or 100-105)

Break it up by day. Your normal rate is $125 so that breaks down to 25 a day for 10.5 hours or approximately 2.38/ hour. For the days that she only needs you to watch them only half the day charge her 2.38/ hour which would be 10.71 a day or 53.57/ week for half days only. For the days that she would need full time care charge her 25 for the day. For example if she needed part time care 3 days and full time the other 2 your charge for the week would be 82.13. To make things easy just round everything up. 2.40/hour; 11/ day 54/week etc. Good luck.
