Where can I find grants to open a Daycare Center?

Parents: How do you find a babysitter, not during normal daycare center hours? What are your requirements?

  • How do you find a babysitter, not during normal daycare center hours? If you work second or third shift or you just want to spend time out with friends (in the evenings) and all daycare centers are closed how do you find a person to babysit your children. Do you find them through other parents or relatives? Do you have only relatives watch your children? Or do you place an ad in the newspaper or Craigslist and check references? What are your requirements? Do you check references and run background checks? How many references do you require? I've personally only had my relatives babysit my child (in the past); otherwise, I'm the one taking care of my child the majority of the time. Although, it would be nice just to have another backup babysitter to have in case family aren't available. I've personally never been able to trust other people to watch my child. How did you get over the trust issue? Did you install nanny cams?

Hi! I'm actually babysitting 2 kids aged 6 and 10 as I type this. They're sitting here with me watching stewart little. I babysat for the same family last summer, too. They found me on craigslist. Before they hired me, I came over and met with the kids. I also gave them some information because they wanted to do a background check. They used some kind of website for that. They just require me to watch the kids basically.. They have a check list of chores they need to complete during the day. They also have school work they need to work on for an hour everyday. Of course I feed them. I can't really help with trust issues but I'm pretty sure they don't have nanny cams installed.. They're kids so if i were to do anything wrong, they'd tell their parents on me anyways. I'm not sure how old your child is though. good luck finding child care!

When the children were younger most of the time my mother babysat for me but I did have friends from church who were always willing to help out as well. My eldest is now 17 and I'm currently after a long gap expecting my fourth. My eldest is the one I will trust to babysit, her sister is nearly 16 and she will also be there to back her up. I've never been interested enough in going out to need to arrange a stranger to baby sit, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself enough as I would be worrying too much, but that's me I'm quite happy just staying in and keeping myself busy at home.
