How do you become a good parent?

  • Well it's way too early for me to be talking about being a good parent lol But I was wondering, how do you become a good parent and have your kids grow up to be good? I was looking back at how good I am and how well of a job my parents did raising me, and allowing me seize the opportunity to be a really smart person. I look at some kids at school and wonder how they can be so stupid... like they don't want to learn or anything. They just put different priorities first instead of learning. And all they care about is fitting in with all this rap music and all that other crap. So I wanna be a good parent like my parents (: How do I do this, though? :(

    Don't worry about it... If your parents were good parents you will be to. You will parent the only way you know how, which is through your own parent's example. (That doesn't work 100% of the time... there are of course many cases of children growing up in abusive homes who end up breaking the cycle and being amazing parents and there are cases of great parents raising a completely ungrateful adult). The fact that you're already worried about it just shows that you will be a good mom someday. As long as you love your children and put them first and truly have their very best interest at heart, you will raise wonderful human beings!

Trial and error. Your going to have to try hundreds of methods to communicate and understand your child. Some will work, while some won't. It's a process that lasts throughout their life. You never end being a parent or good mother. So your always learning. I say stock up on info from moms (both modern and older) and use your own common since and instinct. It comes naturally.

Get a job that pays a lot of money and gives you a lot of time off. Oh and kick their asses when you catch them with drugs.

Do whats best for your kids even if its at your own expense Teach your kids good morals, and how to take care of themselves buy surrounding them with good examples/role models, and knowing when its time to step back and let them try something new on their own. Being a friend to them is nice, but being a parent comes first.
