Ear infection any tips to help sooth the pain?

  • 8 month old with and ear infection cant see the doctor till 1 pm the ear is draining yellow fluid and baby is extremly uncomfortable any hints on making him feel better

  • Answer:

If the ear is draining and the baby does not have tubes, then the ear drum has burst bc the baby has had the infection too long. If there are tubes and it is draining, then the tubes are working and there shouldnt be much pain associated with it bc the pressure is being relieved. My son always wanted to sleep and be upright. Laying down hurts. There is a product (cant remember the name) you can get and put in their ear to ease pain. MOTRIN always worked best for us bc it reduced swelling. If the baby's eardurm has burst and that is why it is draining.. that is extremely painful when it bursts....

Try Motrin For Infants

Oh that dosent sound good at all. I have a 14 month old son and hes had two ear infections, but they have never drained fluid. Try holding a warm, wet cloth to the ear this will improve circulation in the ear, and help remove wax that is creating a blockage. I hope this helps your little guy.

Usually sucking soothes them. Try a binky and some motrin for babies. If the condition continues for another two days or the child begins running a fever, get them to the doctor straightaway.

Poor baby. I used to get ear infections so bad that puss would drain out of my ears as well. It felt like my whole face was swollen. I found the only thing that worked for me was ear candles.. u can buy them at like a health food store..

My mom used to use white vinigar. Just put a couple of drops in the ear. Vinigar is a natural nutralizer. Thats why you pour it on acid burns to ease pain and nutralize acid... Sulfuric, chromic, caustic, etc. and not pour water on acid burns. However, don't pour peroxide in the ear. It will only push the infection into the bloodstream and cause blood infection. good luck Or you could just take the kid to the doctor.

Poor baby! You can fill a small water bottle with very warm (not hot) tap water and hold it up against his ear or just below it. The heat will help with pain and swelling. Some babies find enough relief from it that they'll hold still and let you hold it for them. Hope he feels better soon!

i had that exact same thing. we went to the doctor and were prescribed an ear spray called Otomoze. I used it twice a day for a week and it went just like that, amazing.
