What is voluntary childcare, statutory childcare and private forms of childcare?

Childcare facility requests copy of parents 1090 forms prior to getting on list?

  • Is it common for a child care facility to request copies of our latest 1090 tax form to verify income prior to getting on their waiting list? We made a cold call to a nearby "qualified" daycare for out 8 month old, and this was the first item she shared. I wasn't too keen on sharing such personal information especially with ID theft, etc - has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any info.

  • Answer:

I never had to do that 1099 would make more since I see no reason why they would have to see your 1090 http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/uscode20/usc_sec_20_00001090----000-.html I did have to verify my income - I used pay stubs. 1099 would be an easy way to do that.

No. That would be granting access to child care based on financial status which contravenes the Human Rights code (Ontario). Ilegal. All children have the right to child care. If you can't afford it, the government has subsidies available, so THEY will be asking for financial information to prove that you actually do need financial assistance. But a daycare cannot ask for financial information.
