Why are people worried about school laptop cameras filming their kids, when parents give phone/cameras to them?

The stories that I've heard recently on the news was teachers watching these children at home in their bedrooms. The kids not knowing that this happening had their laptops on in their bedrooms while changing etc. and the school staffs were watching this. This was on the news!

It's a matter of privacy. If the laptop remains on that means anyone in the faculty can "sneak a peek" at the child as they do non-related school work (Getting ready for bed, etc) We all know stories of a school member taking pics of kids in a shower after PE. or luring the child to their house and getting them drunk or high when helping them with their school work. Do you really want some one you don't know, drooling over the laptop hoping to catch a child in their undies ???

When u put a phone down on a table. You dont stand it up , u lay it down. Thus any picture taken would be of the roof. Because thats the way it is facing. School laptops are usually in the kids bedrooms. The screen and webcam facing the whole room. Any picture or footage taken would be of the person inside the room and the room itself. There is a difference, especially if that person is getting changed and or doing any number of private things. Noone puts their phone down on the table standing up. Thats just plain weird.

Because if I give my kid a phone or a camera, she knows when she's being filmed. Those cameras were filming children without their knowledge, and without their permission, and those images were going to some monitoring station. What if my child were changing in her room, and that camera was filming her without her knowledge? That's inappropriate, and illegal.

Because the laptop's connected to the internet and the pictures will be visible over the school network. You can only see the pictures on a phone if the owner of the phone decides to send them to you.
