When Child Custody is the child is with the main parent for the school year and the other parent for summer?

It depends on state laws and individual custody/support cases. Here most cases the custodial parent continues to recieve the regular childsupport through the summer. With or without the child.

i am a kid and im going through a divorce, now try spending a week with(mom)and aweek with (dad) and in the summer the parents should get there child 2 weeks with mom and 2 weeks with dad, and then ask him/her who he/her wants to live with therfore if u want ur kid to see the other parent then u got to sighn some papers, keep doing the week routine until he decides thank u and have a spectacular day.

Child support still needs to be paid, even when the child is visiting the other parent, because the custodial parent still has a household to maintain. Her rent or mortgage payment, utilities, and the other expenses of maintaining a place to live with her children do not disappear just because the children are visiting Daddy for a month or two.

Many times it is the same year round. After all the school-year parent has to pay mortgage or rent and utilities on the main residence of the child whether the child is there or not. And I would guess the primary residential parent buys most of the child's clothes -- I mean would they really send the child to the other parent's house with no summer clothes or mandate that the summer parent buy all the summer clothes? Sometimes the school-year parent pays all or part of the cost of travel for the child to stay with the summer parent. Many times the school-year parent puts the child on his or her health insurance because it's just easier if the summer parent lives some distance away for the parent who takes the child to the doctor and dentist and etc. to also take care of the insurance. While usually the summer parent takes the child places and buys them things while they are there, all the summer parent has to pay for is food and possibly day care. With the money the school-year parent saves on child support, they can buy school supplies, pay registration fees, and buy school clothes or pay tuition for the school year that are expenses that might be above and beyond what child support pays for. Yes, it is a greater expense for the summer parent while the child is with them, but for the other nine or ten months of the year, they do not have to buy food or pay for daycare for the child, except what they put out in child support.
