Can you claim childcare vouchers when on maternity leave?

  If you're on maternity leave then you're not working, so why should tax payers pay for someone else to look after your child when you're at home? The point of maternity leave is to stay home with your new baby! Not to shove them in state-funded childcare. Childcare vouchers are to help working parents meet the cost of their childcare, not to give non-working parents free time. --edit-- You're still at home on maternity leave whether it's for an older child or not, therefore you're expected to look after yhour own children or pay the childcare costs youself. Why should tax payers pay for your child to be looked after by someone else when you're at home? And yes I know how it feels, i have a 4 year old and a 6 month old.
