Visitation for a parent to see a 8-9 week old baby...where can one go to do that since we aren't comfortable? Your Question Visitation for a parent to see a 8-9 week old baby...where can one go to do that since we aren't comfortable? Father of the baby has been abusive to the Mother (they are not married), baby is a preemie due date of 4/16/11 but born 02/27/11. Told we have to let him see the baby....well we are concerned with his behavior and not knowing how to go about this is a task in itself. Anyone have any suggestions on where this could be done and who could supervise something as this? The father has told the Mother of the baby he would take the baby down the road (father and his STEP-mother have been planning on leaving to Indiana for a long time unknown to her husband (which is the baby's father's dad). Baby has some issues with acid reflux, has issues with sight, issues with neck (not sure if was caused by the father of the baby letting the baby right after the NICU of 22 days in a sitting position letting the baby's head bobble all around thinking it was funny...but now baby has issues with his neck and has torticollis that he is getting therapy for.... I can't see why a father would insist right now until things die down to see the baby after all he cries a lot and I mean a lot due to his acid reflux, potties and sleeps as well as eats (half nursing, half formula).

Answer:
My biggest question to you is, was Child Protective Services involved in placing the baby with you or was this all done on your own? I'm assuming CPS was not involved by the way you put the question. So I would think that you should let him see the baby somewhere in a public place with plenty of people around. As for supervision.... without getting authorities involved I would say have a male family member go along just in case. Not to say a woman couldn't handle things, but having a male present (especially a big strong guy) might discourage any idiotic behavior on the father's part. I am dealing with something similar right now that involves my sister in law and her husband. He beat her while she was still pregnant, and now CPS has stepped in and taken the kids away. It's a terrible situation to deal with but you have to protect that baby.
