Saving Accounts and Saving Bonds?
-
I got a good refund this year from my taxes and plan on opening a saving account for my LO and would like to buy her 2-3 saving bonds. My questions are: Which bank would be a good place to have a saving account? (We live in the western suburbs of Chicago) & Are saving bonds worth it anymore? If I bought her 3 $50 SB how much would she have when she is 18?

Answer:
Check around your area and do your research. Find out which banks offer savings accounts for minors and if there are any fees associated with the account. Some banks will even set it up so that no one can touch the account to do withdrawls until the child is 18. As far as the savings bonds go, go to this website and it gives you all the information you need to know about savings bonds. http://www.treasurydirect.gov/indiv/help/tdhelp/faq.htm#PurchasingSavingsBonds
