Who is this Emo/Scene kid?

What would you define as the line between a kid who "doesn't listen" and a kid who listens but pushes buttons?

  • I just got to wondering this today: we all know a kid who is developing normally, for her health and her mind, should "tests the waters" so to speak, and as good parents most of us let them "win" sometimes. Kids shouldn't be expected to be perfect and luckily most aren't. heck if a kid doesn't try out their first white lie on someone somewhere between the ages of 1 and 3 it can be a sign of a developmental delay - we all ought to secretly rejoice the day our kid first tries it out, as it's a BIG step to jump mentally to understand such a concept for them; a true sign of growing of the mind and healthy development. But I started to wonder, what would we define as the line between a normal kid and one who tests those water too much? In your personal opinions, where would YOU draw the line between a kid who doesn't always listen but is basically a well behaved kid, and one who would be considered a "disciplinary problem" and has started sliding into the not well behaved category? (example, is it the moment when you realize the kid DOESN'T listen more than he DOES listen? or is it before then? Is it the level of the offense? what do you all think? just curious. I haven't formed an opinion yet
