Parents, do you remember what its like to be a teenager?

Yes, I'm 29 so it wasn't too terribly long ago. I also remember doing some bad things that I don't want my kids doing.

Indeed I do remember, that's why i'll be more strict than my parents in some regards and allow more freedoms in others

Haha yes and I hope to God that they arnt an ounce how I was as a teen. I would NOT let him go to a concert that long, at least not by himself. I'd go with him and kinda stay a safe distance so as not to embarass him, but thirteen is way too young, I dont care what I did as a teen.

Yes I remember and I'm 35 now. I remember everything I've done and when my kids say things like that i let them go but not everywhere just the places when teens and kids are suppose to go....If i could relive all again I would. But not anymore because Im happy with my children and my husband.

Yeah it was as if it was yesterday...... hah lol well last year. Im 20 so its still fresh.. I thought about how tough that is going to be for me, because I definitely had some AMAZING fun times! But I also had some crazy, wild nights that I would never want my son to have..lol But hopefully (for him) within the next 12 years, I get over that.

I joked with my friend the other day who on facebook was saying we were too bad, we did a lot of trouble. I told her it has prepared me so my own daughter can't pull the wool over my eyes lol. IT's true, you do some stupid things as a teen but most of it was harmless and it's good to remember that your children will make mistakes with or without your consent....but I'm checking my daughters purse when she's a teen and I don't care how insane it is..my parents should of grounded me!!

I'm 57, but I remember quite well what it was like to be a teenager. Let's see, I worked part time from age 12 and full time from age 15, made straight A's in school, did a huge amount of the housework (cooking, cleaning, babysitting, gardening, mowing grass, etc.), tossed in some of my paycheck to help the family (the rest went into my college fund), did a lot of volunteer work, attend church every Sunday, kept my mouth shut a good bit of the time, showed utter and complete respect to all adults, got to start dating at age 16 with an 11 o'clock curfew (dating was not much of a problem since I was usually working), started wearing hose when I was in high school, lipstick at age 15........

Why don't you let the boy to the concert? Is that what you think parenting is about? Taking away all the fun of being young?
