Is milk a good moisturizer?

Infant vomits out milk after breast feed or powdered milk?

  • My 2.5 month old kid has some issue. Sometimes he vomits out little amount of milk after 3-5 minutes of taking milk. It happens at any time of day/night with powdered milk as well as with breast fed milk. We do take him on our shoulder and tap him for few min so that milk & gas issue doesnt happen, after giving him a feed. But still no solution. He does have nasal congestion problem since birth. We tried Naresol (I think Saline), Nasivion (Xylometazoline), Otrinoz (xylomethazoline + moisturizer) besides he had antibiotic injections upto 7th day of birth (Amikacin & one more) as mother developed cold-cough just 2 days before delivery, as well. Also the weather is humid & cold so we do put on room heater & we are keeping him in warm well.

  • Answer:

ALL babies spit up a little bit thats why we keep baby wipes and bibs or wipe cloths handy all the time. It's perfectly normal and there's nothing you can do that will stop it.

He could very well be intollerant to cow's milk. If you drink milk then it comes through your milk. He gets whatever you eat. If he is on cow's milk based formula then I think that is the issue. If you either put him on a soy formula or elliminate all milk products from your diet he should improve. The nasal congestion could also be a sign of an allergy, most likely from milk.

if its only a little bit of spit up thats fine, its natural and if it doesnt effect his weight or his happiness you dont need to do anything, jsut keep trying to burp him properly to make sureh e doesnt have to much wind and if hes spits up, leanr its jsut normal if its alot of sick then he may have reflux or an allergy etc (my daughter projectile vommited every bottle she had for 10 weeks after birth until we found out she had milk allergy, she was switched to hypoiallergenic milk prescribe by dcotor and hses been fine ever since) although because you said it only a little then im sure its nothing to be concerned about and jsut keep doing what your doing :) x

It is normal for babies to spit up a bit. If he is constantly spitting up a lot of milk, he could have reflux. But, this isn't always so. My little girl always vomited after feedings. And I mean vomited. The doctor was fine with it, as she was a happy spitter. Meaning, she obviously wasn't in any pain with it.
