Formula 1 Clothing?

8 week old baby and formula questions.?

  • ok my little girl is 8 weeks old today! (goes by way too fast) when she was born my milk supply automatically dried up : ( we started her on the normal isomil formula and it made her sick...so sick she puked up bile and lost a pound in less than 24 hours after birth. we started her on the soy isomil after this and ever since she was born her poo has been more formed. she still goes 1-2 times a day sometimes every other day. I was wondering since it is still formed should i try switching to the isomil sensitive or stick with the soy? my pediatrician really doesnt ever answer my question when i ask him this. Also she recently decided that she loves to be swaddles at night while sleeping but she wakes up with a heat rash on her neck and cheecks. we have tried to dress her in very light clothing but it still comes back. any advice? thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

Why use Isomil it doesn't sound like it is really working for you? I haven't heard of any one use Isomil before. The major formulas that are used are: - Similac Advanced with Early Health Shield - Enfamil with Triple Health Guard - Good Start Plus (or Supreme) - Enfamil A+ Soy - Enfamil Gentlease Lipil - Good Start Plus (or Supreme) Soy - Similac Organic Lipil - Earth Best Soy or Milk based with DHA and ARA - Good Start Gentle Plus * First three are the most popular. The rest are for special problems. I would suggest changing her formula. You may want to get a new doctor if he isn't answering your questions.

i too started my baby on soy formula from birth of course i supplemented since i was doing mostly breastfeeding. well my hospital says that soy is best since it is the closest to breast milk. i would recommend talking to your pediatrician but then again you mentioned that he rarely answers your question. i just switch my daughter to lactose free formula but she is older 6 months. i did it because i am weaning her off. she was only on the soy because they said it was closer to breast milk. you can try switching her and see how she reacts. look out for any sensitivity like diarrhea. regarding the heat rash, my daughter as experiencing the same thing. try leaving a little bit of space for air to go through. for the rash on the skin, the pediatrician had ordered a cream for the skin maybe your pediatrician can order a cream if the skin doesn't get better. best of luck

im actually using similac isomil soy (with the pink cover) and it works just fine for my 8 week old daughter! i switch her from similac advanced to this cause she kept spitting up! this is my 1st child so i changed her formula without asking her pedi, which thank god nothing happned and it helped and actually worked better for her! i just asked her pedi a couple days ago at her 2 month check up if the soy formula is okay! his respoinse was... that they usually dont reccomend soy formula cause it causes constipation! but since shes been on it for a while, it obviously doesnt and its fine! so my thing is... it may be the soy formula thats causing her not to go too often and it being formed! before u change itAGAIN i would ask her pedi. as far as the rash id check that out too. it could be something else... maybe even a reaction to the blanket that ur swaddling her in! good luck with everything ps. most babies lose a couple pounds after birth! its very normal, so dont worry about that (her pedi shouldve told u that)

As far as the formula goes, hospitals recommend good start formula. It's the closest thing to breast milk. And as far as loosing weight goes, that's actually pretty normal. My nurse informed me that most babies actually loose 8-12% of their body weight after birth. It is important to make sure they plump after wards. And are you sure its a heat rash? If shes getting sick of the current formula, perhaps her rash is an allergic reaction.
