I have a Dr. Brown's formula mixing pitcher. We just mix up a batch in there, keep it in the fridge, and fill bottles as needed. If we are going out, we'll fill the bottles that we need with baby water and bring formula in a separate container to mix when we need it.
I usually go ahead and premix about 4-5 bottles and put them in the refrigerator and then warm them as needed. I have to pre-mix bottles because I work and the babysitters wouldn't figure out how to mix it right.
I prepare fresh each time, I think it's easier that way. I make 4 oz bottles of (spring or purified) water ahead of time so it's ready when he needs it & just add the formula when he's ready to eat.
I make four or five bottles in the evening. I know the prepared bottles are good for about 24 hours if they are refrigerated, so I make enough to at least get us through the night and through the morning. If you know about how much your baby will drink during the course of a day, make that amount ahead of time and stick it in the fridge. The Dr. Brown's pitcher us also a good idea, but for me, I'd rather just grab the bottle and warm it rather than taking the extra step. Hey, time is scarce when you have a little one!
I make a pitcher of formula each day. It keeps in the refrigerator for 24 hours, so I just pour new bottles as she needs them. This also allow me to put more/less on each bottle depending on how thirsty she is. If she goes through a bottle quickly and wants more, I can fill the next bottle only halfway to give her just what she needs, without wasting any.
I really dont know how people can make them up as they go! I find it so much easier to make them all at once and just heat them up in a jug of hot water when needed. I know this isnt recommended now but it was when my 5 year old was a baby and it never done any harm. Rules get changed all the time. Hope you and your little man are well :) X
I find it much easier to boil water and make a batch of milk for the day and then i just warm it when i need it, unless I'm going out because i know it wont stay cold for very long, i will put the water in 2 or 3 bottles and bring the formula in tiny bags with each amount that goes in each bottle.
When working, i pre prepare, so it can just be heated as necessary. Now i'm on maternity leave, i make up a fresh batch each time.
