How do you prepare and save for a baby and what is a good amount of money to save?

  • how much money is a good goal to save just for the baby.my boyfriend and i have been dating for 3 years, he is 24 and I am 23 and we both are about to turn another year older in a couple months, we always thought we wanted to be young parents. but forgot about that thought for a while. but I brought it up to him again because i have been feeling really baby crazy and he said if it happens it will be ok and that he has been wanting it. i am going to tell you our setbacks, he hasnt been working for a while because he was laid off, and has a felony on his record from 6 years ago, so its hard for him to find any work. I know that sounds bad, but he is a really good person. we cant judge right? any how. I had 2 jobs up until friday of this past week, i worked an hour away and was spending more than I made. So I work full time now 15 mins from my home. its a small 1br apt. so now I will have the opportunity to make more money and save more. I know ideally that we should wait for a while. But we arent getting any younger and we really want one soon. I just want to knowany advice. I know people just might say wait. but I know some people have to feel the same. I work full time making 10 an hour and I am about to get a raise soon too. my boyfriend is currently looking for work. I currently am getn a cheap 5 hundred dollar car to get me by until I can get one for 1k. I havent had a good opportunity to save money because of my one job i left. i spent more on gas driving there than i made. any thoughts? advice?     i was only 15 when i got pregnant with my first and i was raped so of course i wasnt prepared and i could not work because i wasnt old enough and when i was old enough i was 6 months pregnant and noone would hire me. the fact is i was just fine i had left the father beacause of what had happened and the man i met to help me didnt work at the time. my daughter is now 1 yr two months and has more toys then carters has pills and because i have cirvical cancer im pregnant with number two in case they tell me i cant have anymore babies. you make plenty now to get you by until he gets a job keep in mind it will be nine months befor the baby gets here and a baby shower is a life savor. also you dont have to get a lot of expensive things a baby is not picky so you dont have to be either like i said im an extremely young mom and i know youll be fine your doing good so far so keep up the good work and go for it have the baby when you feel ready not when other ppl say your ready. hope it helps coming from a teen mom.

I was 17 when I had my first and didn't have a job or a cent to my name, I relied on family to buy nappies to last my daughter the first week of her life until I got my welfare payments. As soon as I started getting paid I went crazy and bought everything I possibly could for her, I felt so guilty she had nothing when she was born. I am now pregnant with my second who was planned and saved up for before trying to conceive, I have to say I enjoy this pregnancy more because I don't have to worry if my baby will have nappies this time. Also my first daughters father didn't stick around for the pregnancy but decided to step up to the plate when she was a few months old. So I have had it all ways....single, moneyless, with partner him with and without a job and all I can say is wait until he gets a job and holds it for 3-4 months an save $1000-$1500 to cover basics of what baby will need and then start trying to have a baby. If you get pregnant now you will do nothing but stress about if baby will have what it needs and rush him into finding a job and he may leave.....Also both my children have the same father.
