Unexplained bruise on 8 month old's ear.?
-
My son is 8 months old. He is not yet crawling or walking. He does roll over though. Today, I noticed a bruise that is about the size of the bottom of a pen(not the ink tip, but the bottom) on the cartilage area of his ear. He has not hit it on anything so I'm not sure why he would have a bruise there. He did get shots yesterday, but I don't think that could have anything to do with it. When I first noticed it, I thought it was dirt or something, so I wiped it with a baby wipe and realized that it's a bruise. Anybody have any opinions?

Answer:
My cousin got cancer at a very young age. She had two bumps on her bottom. They lasted for a while too. Give it a week or two and then go see a doctor.

could he have layed on a stuffy (lil toy animal) or something? U could keep a watchful eye on it as may fade n go away in a few days, otherwise bring him to his pediatrician. Thing about some of my kids doctors, they felt I was an over diligent mother grrr. My now 23year old son was diagnosed with a developmental disability, amblyopia high myopia and mild cerebral palsy when he was about 3yrs old. Had corrective eye surgery twice by the time he was 4. Hemophilia A when he was 17 yrs old. He had very frequent nosebleeds when he was a baby/lil one. Dr dismissed and suggested he take iron supplement. I dont want to frighten u but a mothers concerns should never be brushed off. If u not satisfied with ur pediatrician or ur doctor, if medical insurance allows, get a second opinion. I shouldve listened to my mom. Good luck and enjoy ur son..they grow so fast.
take him to the doctors just in case (please pick as best answer!)
Nothing to be concerned about, he likely managed to bruise himself by playing with his ear and doing something to his ear as babies at this age are very curious about their bodies and what they can touch. My daughter used to give herself bruises at the age quite a bit as well just from exploring what she could do.. I wouldn't worry about, kids get bruises a lot growing up and you will notice a lot more as your son gets older. They are pretty much inevitable, especially once they start crawling and walking.
