What is a dental positioner?

Did you use the bumper on your baby's crib? what about a sleep positioner? ?

  • I was just wondering since I've read both ways that you should and that you shouldn't.

  • Answer:

I didn't use either it's to big of a risk of suffocation I had four babies and all did fine with out them in my opinion no you shouldn't cause you never know when you baby is gonna start rolling.

I never used the cot bumper because i used it 2 times and both times when i went to feed my daughter it was over her face so i would advise that you do not use one .

I had to use a playpen for a bed since our apartment was super tiny when my son was born so I didn't have to worry about a bumper but i did us a lil sleep posistioner for a month or two that held him when he was swaddled. I liked it and to me that was better than him rolling on to his tummy so young. Recently we moved to a big place and bought his crib and at babies r us I found a bumper that is called breath right or something like that. Anyway it's much thinner and has hole perforations throughout much like what you would see in a playpen. I needed something cause my son is active and ends up slamming his head to much. I thought this was a nice option instead of all those really thick non breathable bumpers.

Nope I did not use either one. I am really glad I didnt use the bumper..only because my son was and is all over the place. He sometimes sleeps with his face right where the bumper would be. So glad I didnt buy one. :) He is all over that darn crib!

i have nevr had a problem with either of them!

As long as the bumper is snugged fit, then it is okay to use. A sleep positioner is ok, if you have a sound sleeper. My daughter was a mover, and when we would wake up the positioner would be at her head, so we took it away.

I used a bumper pad for my daughter's crib, but that was because I used an older one that had the bars farther apart than they do now. I tied the bumper to the corners of the crib and tucked it tight between the bars and the mattress. I kept the bumpers in the crib until she was too big to slip through the bars. Thank goodness for the new cribs with bars close together! What you have to remember is that anything can become dangerous for a baby if not used correctly. Always follow the instructions for safe usage. I'm not sure they even had sleep positioners when my daughter was a baby. Kinda dates me, doesn't it?

I used a bumper in both of my children's cribs, but I never used a positioner.I actually took my daughters bumper out of her crib a when she started to move around because I was afraid she would get wedged against it and suffocate but then she would stick her legs between the crib rails and get stuck so I put it back in.I think crib bumpers are great as long as they are sturdy and thin and not really flimsy.

Neither are recommended anymore so nope.

Nope, the bumper is still sitting in the packaging and my son is over 2 years old. What a waste of money. I didn't even bother buying a fancy crib set for my girls. Just went to Target and got pink sheets and dust ruffles. Saved a few hundred dollars that way. The bumpers are NOT safe. They are a suffocation hazard when the babies are small and when they are older they are still dangerous cause kids use them to climb up and may fall out of the crib. I did use positioners the first few months. It helps them feel nice and cozy.
