How should i make money?

How can I make more money during my senior year?

  • During the summer, I couldn't find a job or either they did not call me back. I need money and I'm tired of asking my mom for money like a child. I'm 17 years old and I wish I had nice things. I always see my classmates on Facebook bragging about their 2 jobs and getting a car and I feel as though I don't measure up. I try saving up my money, but I get impatient because I don't always get money handed to me when I feel like it. Yes I know we don't always get what we want. I still have those 20 dollars to those days and I want a job so that I can earn more money, but if I get a job after school, my mom would nag me about how education is more important and blah blah. My mom tries to cheer me up and say that my older cousin (who is 22) never had a job and her mom always gives her money, but that doesn't help. I don't care and I'm not my cousin. I don't want my mom giving me money when I should be working! I can afford clothes, but it's not the type I want because my mom still picks out the clothes that I wear. I dress older (in my mid 40s-50s) compared to my peers. I try to talk to my mom about it, but she would go back to doing it anyway. I don't have that type of money to be getting my hair, nails, toes, or anything done occasionally, and I don't wear makeup. I feel as though I don't measure up compared to my classmates. I hate it when they ask me where I go to do my hair, if I ever get my hair done, and where I get my clothes and shoes. I feel ugly and unpopular. I've never dated and I'm worried I never will. I still don't have a date for prom >__>.

  • Answer:

At the age of 17, its hard to put the value of things in perspective. Often times, you pursue meaningless things based on impulsive desires. However, consider your long term goals. If you are looking to work, understand that the most valuable result from this year of employment will be experience! When you get into college, you're likely going to need to have a job, and employers will wish to see candidates with experience. So your best bet is to identify the industry you wish to pursue and find a job that will afford you work experience. You will apply it towards your career - something that truly matters!

you can earn money being people's prom dates and solve two problems at once. The website is called Prom Date Depot and apparently people sometimes pay a couple hundred bucks for a date.

It'll be easier to get a job once summer's over. All of those high school kids/college kids that wanted summer jobs will be gone, so you'll have lots of opportunities. You just have to keep trying and don't give up. I've had a job for quite a while now (more than a year), and I'm also 17... I work at Starbucks :P haha

I believe there are two questions here - equally important. Money and date. The solution to both is the same, confidence in your self. There are plenty of jobs out there, there are plenty of opportunity online to make some money too. From the way you have written you are quite coherent and able to put your ideas across. I would recommend articles marketing for you. Once you have confidence in yourself you will get both money and date.
