Why are some people pretty and some people ugly?

I've been told I was ugly and pretty by different people? Why?

  • In 7th grade, I hung out with these crowd of people. One day, there was a guy who was pointing out some of the girls' flaws. He told one of the girls to get liposuction and another girl to get rhinoplasty. Then when he came to me, he said that I need plastic surgery. That really killed my self esteem. He was one of those really popular guys. So that was the year when I started caring about what other people think of me. But then in 8th grade, I hung out with another group of people, and there was this one guy who I really liked. One day we were in a deep conversation about our futures. He asked me what I plan to do in the future and I said "I want to write a book and travel the world." Then he said "Really? that's awesome, but I think you should model." When he said that I was confused. I mean I've always thought I was ugly, why would he say that? At first I thought it was a cruel joke, but he doesn't seem to laugh about it or anything. Why do I've been told I'm pretty and ugly all my life, who am I supposed to trust?

    Some people are downright ugly, some are downright pretty. In most cases though, beauty is like art, very subjective.

I bet you're gorgeous (: Some people have different opinions on beauty, but if somebody is pretty you can't deny and say they're not. Those people that said you're ugly are either bullies or they're jealous.

Because people have different opinions and judgments. Not everybody finds someone the same as other people. I could think someone was good looking but others might not think that, its the way life works. Just be confident in yourself, its only what you think about yourself that matters.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You look different to different people, because they all have differing opinions. What really matters is what you think about yourself. If you think you're pretty and are confident, then you ARE pretty. End of story, dollface. (:

people have different opinions one of the really popular girls at my school all the guys seem to think is super hot but i really dont think she is anything special to look at, she has gross hair and her eyes are too far apart but she is a really nice person :)

That guy sounds like a jerk. I guess he was saying what he really needed. I guess he's just jealous or wants to impress people by saying cruel things about others. I guess the guy who told you should be a model, looked differently at you. I guess he saw your personality and your face at the same time. Beauty is in the eyes of beholder.

Everyone has different opinion. The guy who said you needed plastic surjery was probably just being a jerk. I bet you are gorgeous. Don't let one opinion bring you down.
