What does "LOL" mean?

What does this all mean ( I do NOT speak guy lol )?

  • So at work there's this brazillian guy with a heavy (and adorable) accent who speaks portugese and spanish and is 21. I am 17 and I speak enough Spanish to have conversation, but when he speaks to our Mexican coworker, I can't keep up and it's very easy for them to talk about me and I can only catch bits and pieces of it. lol anyway, ever since he started working there he's been giving me looks and what not and says flirty things to me and teaches me random words in portugese and we converse in spanish and he was talking to the mexican guy today and he said that I was hot (that's all I could get out of it) lol and I looked at him and I was like "I understood that" and he started blushing.. and there's this other girl there that's always throwing herself at him, and while she was doing that he came up to me and whispered "I like you better, you are a nice, quiet, cute, fun girl.. not like her." and he just smiled and walked away. then before I left he told me he was quitting and today was his last day, I got all sad and gave him a hug and told him to have fun with his life, and he then kissed me on the forehead, and I gave him a peck on the neck.. I'm kinda short that's as far as I can reach without him kinda hunching over. lol. and then as I was leaving he said sweetly, "I was just kidding so you'd give me a hug, see you tomorrow." and every time someone at work suggests to him that he takes me out he says "no no she only 17, I can not go to the jail." in his accent. (: so why is he being all flirty and then not.. like.. doing anything about it.. 17-21 isn't a big gap

    Well where is it that you live? Maybe it is against the law where you live and the guy just really doesn't want to go to jail for statutory rape. If 17 surpasses the legal age for consent for sex in your area it may be more of a personal thing to him. He may be attracted to you and openly flirt with you but if he is the one who isn't comfortable with the age difference then there might not be anything you can do about it. I have a friend who was head over heels for a guy (her brother's best friend) and he did feel the same way but stood to his word that he would not date her until she was old enough. They fell for each other when she was 16 and when she turned 18 he finally asked her out and they started dating. Maybe that guy is just waiting for you to be older.

I don't think it's that bad of an age gap either, but I would say that if you guys got serious and had sex, he could go to 'the jail'. It's also illegal and it's good that he's thinking about this. When one person is 21, it's also different as the younger one cannot drink or go to bars, so that would be a little unusual. Also, 17 year old girls have typically only had 1-2 years of 'dating experience', where as the 21 year old has had 5-6 years. That's a very big difference. His 'life experiences' are much more than yours. I'd keep up the flirting and see where it goes. He may think it's just inappropriate and that your parents would disapprove. Spanish men tend to be very family focused.
