What should I get him for Christmas?

What are some ways to get the "Christmas spirit" back?

  • I've been so busy this month buying nice gifts for my family and best friend (hundreds of bucks out of my own pocket, which is fine, but it took a lot of work and time to get that money), trying to reach out and give to charities, and not to mention keeping up with friends and school, so I haven't even been able to make a wishlist for my dad until earlier this past week. He got really mad and said that since I gave him the list so late, he's not going to be able to get most of my stuff ordered in time for Christmas, and that most of my gifts will be here next month for my "sweet sixteen" (and I hate my birthday with a passion for various reasons). I come from a relatively newly-broken family, and I can't go to church until after New Year's because my dad won't take me there, so the real meaning of Christmas isn't exactly shining through. The only thing that's going to make me feel remotely better is this one Christmas movie I really like, but they stopped showing it on TV this year, and it's only on video (and my dad has yet to hook the VCR up to the new flat-screen TV, which is really big and expensive, so I'd get in trouble if I tried to do that myself). I used to love Christmas, but this year, I'm not even looking forward to it. I swear, I've tried a million things to "get in the spirit", like watching all the movies, reading the Bible, and all, but nothing has helped. Even worse is the fact that my birthday is coming soon after the holidays. Have you ever gone through a holiday rut like this? And how'd you get through it?

you are such a nice person its unreal. but yeah I kind of get out of the christmas spirit by the time its christmas... Like right after thanks giving im just like "OMG CHRISTMAS yes." and by the time christmas actually comes im kind of over it. My suggestions are to make a fire and listen to christmas music by the tree and you can read the bible in there. wrap all the presents you bought people, try watching more movies, make hot chocolate and drink eggnog, go ice skating, do all those winter things.

you seem so nice! I'm sorry this is happening to you :( I feel like there's less spirit in Christmas this year too. Is there anyway you can go to a church close to you? Or get a ride from someone to church? I'm sure if you asked they'd be willing to take you. As for the gifts, just think of them as Christmas gifts, it's still the thought of Christmas. Try cooking to get int he mood or watch other movies, and you can always look up the movie you wanna watch online, you can probably find it :) Merry christmas!
