How to get him to talk?

How do I get my girlfriend son to be comfortable around me? what am I suppose to talk about with him?

  • Me and my girlfriend have a good relationship so far. we been together for 3 months. I'm 27 and she 33. she has a 12 year old and his father is a deadbeat. I met her son 3 times. I did talk to him but not much cause I didn't know what to say. I never been in a relationship with a woman who has kids. She has one son. What do I talk about with him the next time I'm around him? My girlfriend thinks I dont like her son cause I didn't talk much to him when I was around him. She tries her best to get me and her son to bond and talk. she said her son likes me and look up to me and I should talk to him more. What do I talk about when I'm around him again? I know he does like video games and sports and I do too. can someone please give me some help

    Be involved and take him to cool places show him cool things. my step dad was a deadbeat *** hole who kept trying to become my dad and never cared for the things i cared about. the kid is the most important thing in this womans life, so he should be important to you to. find something you two can connect on, something cool that he can impress his friends with, like going hunting or working on a car or motorcycle.

Instead of trying to start a conversation, invite him out to do something with you, maybe take him to the arcade, to play basketball, etc. Kids bond better to adults when doing an activity together.

Find a video game that you both like and bond over that. Maybe take him to play basketball. Don't necessarily try to have a convo with him. Hes 12 :/. So just try to do somethings that interest both of you. Its a great bonding experience. Maybe your girlfriend has to go shopping- take him to play basketball and then have some lunch to pass the time :)
