Do I have a chance at getting accepted into Purdue's (West Layfayette) education program?

Do I have a chance at being accepted into Purdue Universities (West Layfayette) Education program? I have 3.0 gpa going into my senior year. I know it's low, and I'm quite ashamed of it. I plan on striving and trying my best to get straight A's this year to boost my gpa before I graduate. I hope to have it up to a 3.2 by the end of first semester. I plan on applying to colleges in November. My first choice and dream school is Purdue University. I love the campus, programs, and the atmosphere. I want to become a teacher...but with my low gpa and average test scores will I have a chance at getting accepted into their education program? I have many extracurriculars and volunteer hours to help me out. -I've been tutoring at the local elementary school since my freshmen year -I've been teaching Kindergarten Sunday school classes since my freshmen year -I played piano for 12 years -I've been figure skating for 10 years -I hosted 4 summer camps and donated hundreds of dollars to St. Judes all by myself -I've been on the school newspaper since sophomore year and am now going to be one of the head leaders, potentially the editor-n-chief -I'm going to be in AP photography and AP psychology -I'm in Service club, art club, womans chorale, SADD, book club -I was Service club vice president my junior year, and hopefully running for president this year. -I've volunteered at GiGi's Playhouse to help children with autism -I've volunteered at the animal shelter -etc. My question is....if I apply, will they really even consider me...? I really want to be accepted, and I'm going to try doing what it takes to be accepted.

Answer:
I'm a senior too so i totally understand what you're going through right now. What most colleges look at is GPA, standardized testing, and extracurricular activities. Colleges consider everyone. Sure your GPA isn't the highest but you have great volunteer record that shows your interest in teaching. That really stands out to colleges. I say write a really heartfelt college essay (because those, despite what many students think, are actually really important. My friend's essay was one of the main things that helped her get into Duke because it set her aside from the rest of the pack), do well on your SAT and ACT, do well this semester, and i'm sure you'll have a good shot. Heck, i'm hoping to get into Carnegie Mellon. It's a stretch but you never know unless you apply right? Good luck this year!

I think you need at least a 3.2 to get into Purdue but I'm not 100% sure. My advice to you would get your grades up as high as possible and write a really stellar submission essay. The fact that you have many extracurriculars and volunteer hours will help a lot.
Go to their school website (you can do this with any school) and see what their average GPAs, SATs, ACTs, etc scores are of students they accept.
