Among Switzerland, Norway and Luxembourg, which is the best country to live for an IT professional?
-
I am young guy from India. I have done my Masters degree in Software Engineering. I would like to settle down in Luxembourg or Norway or Switzerland. I would like to move to a country where it is very easy for me find jobs in the software industry. I speak only English. I should be able to make a lot of savings from my income. Which is the least Racist among these 3 countries? So considering all these criteria, which country would you recommend me? Please give me a detailed answer. Also give the rankings among these 3 countries based on my criteria.

Answer:
I would suggest Switzerland. Alternatively with your high qualifications you're able to get a work permit in Canada.

Regardless of which country is chosen Racism will be prevalent. You're also forgetting the language requirements in these 3 countries it is not very likely you could be approved for a work permit to work in such areas if you do not meet the minimum language requirements, having the education requirements is only half the battle considering you'd have to do business within their mother tongue.

First of all, immigration or even obtaining a temporary employment visa is extremely difficult in all of these countries. You do not speak any of these languages. All are highly developed countries with an exceptionally well-educated workforce which have plenty of IT professionals available among their own citizens. All are high-cost, high-tax countries. You would have little to no opportunity to save anything after paying taxes and all the payroll deductions. There is NO way Switzerland will let you in - their immigration laws are some of the world's most restrictive, after Japan. Norway likewise severely limits immigration, as does tiny Luxembourg. In fact, over half of the workers in Luxembourg do not live there! They live in and are citizens of France or Belgium or Germany. So if tiny Luxembourg has need of any foreign workers at all, they have to first take citizens of other EU countries, and they have 3 very close neighbors who wouldn't even need to live in Lux. It is highly unlikely you can get work & visa in any of these countries - or in any EU country whatsoever. Under EU regulations, citizens of the country have priority for jobs, and second priority goes to citizens of other EU countries. They have far more highly skilled people than jobs for them as it is. Unemployment rates around the 20% mark are common throughout much of the EU. Before you ask, forget the US - the real unemployment rate is over 22% now and there are plenty of unemployed IT professionals with various degrees and plenty of experience. Canada, Australia, etc have highly educated workforces and are overloaded with foreign workers already. They pretty much have no further needs. NZ has been sending foreign workers home over the past 18-24 months. The one country doing a lot of hiring in the field is India, but only Indian citizens need apply, or India would be inundated with applicants from numerous other countries. People are getting pretty desperate for work.
