Why Singapore Immigration needs Malaysian I.C number?
-
I am a Malaysian who frequent Singapore. Just like most foreigner, we need to fill up and submit part of the imm. card for Singapore Imm. clearance. If you are observant, you could find that ONLY Malaysian I.C number is asked in addition to passport number. People of other nationality DO NOT need to provide this piece of information. How come the Singaporean Government is so keen to get Malaysian I.C number? Are we allowed to just ignore it?
-
Answer:
You cannot ignore it. They want it due to the history between the two countries immediately after independence from the British. Fundamentally, the Singapore government wants to track Malaysians in the country.
