How important is a certificate to work as a paralegal?

I was born in a foreign country but, a birth certificate was issued in a US city. How does that work?

  • My mother told me I was born at a Nazarene mission in the Dutch East Indies. When I needed a copy of my birth certificate, the one she gave me was issued by the hospital in Indiana where we were living at that time. I asked her why I have an Indiana birth certificate if I was born overseas. She said "that's the way the church works it."

  • Answer:

    uh-oh. Here come the birthers. If this is not a birther question and you are serious, then perhaps your certificate just details that you are an American citizen. It may have been issued upon your parents return to the states. Dunno. Check your local city statutes.
