Can a child born in thailand to a non-thai mother and thai father get thai citizenship if father isn't present?

• Okay, I was wondering if I can do the birth registering process on my own as a non-thai mother and give thai citizenship for my child, as the father is Thai. We have separated (never legally married) and he probably won't come for the birth or registration process, but before he left he gave me 2 photocopies of his Thai citizen ID card with his signature. So would that be enough if I just fill up his name myself as the father, or would they ask that the father come in person to sign and accept the child as his?

  You are not married, and apparently the father will not acknowledge this child as his. Paternity tests would be required and the father would have to acknowledge the child and register the child to have any chance of Thai citizenship for the child. Whatever your citizenship is, you are going to have to register birth to a citizen while abroad at your own country's nearest consulate, obtain a passport of your country for the child, and then depending on what kind of visa you hold, try to obtain a dependent's visa from Thailand for the child. Just because you have a copy of someone's ID does not prove paternity. And the citizen-parent is going to have to register their child with their own country's authorities.
