Who united several Italian states?

I need to interview someone who isn't from The United States.?

  • My AP Human Geography teacher assigned me an assignment in which I need to interview an individual who wasn't born in the United States and is at least 25 years of age. I originaly interviewed an individual from Puerto Rico, though it is technicaypart of the United States I figured she'd be fine with it because Puerto Rican culture is very different than that of the continental United States. Unfortunately this was not the case and I was informed that I woud have to choose someone else. If anyone is a qualifying candidate I woud greaty appreciate if you coud answer these questions. 1. Where and when were you born? 2. What year did you emigrate? When did you arrive in the United States? How old were you? 3. Describe your homeland. What were your house, food, clothing, and life like there? What do you miss about your homeland? 4. Why did you or your family leave your native country? What factors "pushed" or "pulled" you? What experiences did you have in your journey? What obstacles did you overcome? 5. What did you think life in the U.S. would be like? Is your life now different than what you expected? 6. What challenges did you face adjusting to life in the U.S.? Did your eating habits, dress, family relationships, or leisure activities change? How? 7. Have you experienced any type of discrimination in the U.S.? Explain, please. 8. What challenges has learning English created for you? How has your use of your native language changed? 9. What does it mean to be "an American?" Do you feel mostly American, or something else? Can a person be an American and still keep his or her native culture? Why or why not? 10. What laws should the U.S. have towards immigration and immigrants? Should the U.S. be open to all immigrants, or should immigration be limited? Why? 11. What advice would you give to someone thinking of moving to the U.S.?

  • Answer:

Well, I'm only 24.5 but since you haven't gotten any other real replies... here goes.. 1. Where and when were you born? Ontario Canada, 1987 2. What year did you emigrate? When did you arrive in the United States? How old were you? 2005- Sept 12th 2005- I was 18 yrs ol 3. Describe your homeland. What were your house, food, clothing, and life like there? What do you miss about your homeland? It's somewhat live the US,in terms of living standereds and such. I lived in houses, apts, nice areas and some pretty ghetto areas- mother moved us around about once a yr. Canada is much more "sheltered" then it is in the US. You don't hear much about the war, or military there. I don't miss anything about Canada. 4. Why did you or your family leave your native country? What factors "pushed" or "pulled" you? What experiences did you have in your journey? What obstacles did you overcome? I came to the US alone... when I was 8 I fell in love with cali, and said once I turn 18 I would move here, and I did. I came on a plane with a visitor visa. 5. What did you think life in the U.S. would be like? Is your life now different than what you expected? I didn't know what to expect, I mean it's not very far from Canada, but I dind't expect to much military and war so " in your face". My life is VERY different now. In Canada I didn't have a very good family and now I'm married to my wonderful husband and it's amazing. 6. What challenges did you face adjusting to life in the U.S.? Did your eating habits, dress, family relationships, or leisure activities change? How? I had to learn that not everyone is nice, like people in Canada, lock your doors and don't trust anyone. Since I live in cali, I spend a lot of time out doors enjoying WARM weather 7. Have you experienced any type of discrimination in the U.S.? Explain, please. Since I'm white, people just think I'm an American, they had NO idea I was illegal.... I did have to deal with hearing people bash Mexicans and illegals which were not white, and it hurt. Employers if they now you're illegal take advantage of you, my ex use to abuse me and threaten to have me deported if I called the cops. 8. What challenges has learning English created for you? How has your use of your native language changed? Well, we speak English and French in Canada 9. What does it mean to be "an American?" Do you feel mostly American, or something else? Can a person be an American and still keep his or her native culture? Why or why not? To be an American to me, means to be free, and have endless abilities to do whatever you wish. I feel American, but I know inside where I'm really from. The great thing about this country, is all the different cultures.... 10. What laws should the U.S. have towards immigration and immigrants? Should the U.S. be open to all immigrants, or should immigration be limited? Why? If the US didn't have laws, everyone would try and move here. I think it should be done case by case. 11. What advice would you give to someone thinking of moving to the U.S.? Don't do it if you'll have to be illegal... unless it's life or death. Don't marry for citizenship.
