Can you pay for your passport in cash?

I have some passport questions?

• i am a US citizen and is going to apply for my 1st passport, and i hope some people can atleast awnser my questions based on experience. im going to apply at my local post office, they say you have to call for an appointment, is that for getting the passport ingeneral and fill it out there? or dose it mean can i just go in post office and ask for a passport, fill it out at home or whatever and call for an appointment to turn it in? I also noticed you could just print out the form on the website and fill it out. I printed it, dose it matter what kind of paper its on? can it be the standard paper? fill it out call for appointment to turn it in? as far a payment could i pay in cash at the post office? i know i have a bunch a questions but i wanna make sure i do it right. please help me out! id really appreciate it :)

  Fill out the form on their website. Take it to the post office along with your birth certificate or any other proof that you are a US citizen and 2 passport photo. You pay at the post office, cash, check, credit card or Debit Card. I don't think you have to make an appointment. I just walked in and waited in line when I applied for mine. You will receive 2 separate mail in 4 to 6 weeks for normal delivery. One is your document and the next mail is your passport. If you are under 17 years old, you need your parents with you.
