Has anyone heard of American Platinum Financial Services?

Are there any services or charities available for children who have a parent that has been deported?

  • I'm sure with the United States now deporting people in record numbers, that we are just starting to hear the hardships of the families that are left behind, but was curious if there are already programs, charities, or services available for the children who are lacking a parent (or both), and/or the remaining parent who is now forces to raise the children alone. A family I have known for many years is in such a difficult situation and I really fear for their emotional well-beings. The father had been incarcerated for 5 years and upon his release was deported. He was in the country legally when he committed his crime. Had been living in America since he was 3 years old and never even visited the country of citizenship. The idea of deportation never even crossed anyone's mind because no one really thought of him as anything other than American. The family struggled patiently for 5 years waiting for him to come home. He was then deported with no warning to his family. His wife found out because she called the prison because she hadn't heard from him. He was long gone at that point. To date, they still have not heard from the father who has been deported to a country where he knows no one in. His children, one 5 and one 6, are still excited that their Dad is coming home soon. They have talked about it for years. They knew mom was struggling on her own and new a big part of that was because she was raising them alone. Children are intelligent enough to know. There is a huge possibility they will never see their father again. (They are not traveling to the country he was deported to. It's not safe enough.) The mom is still legally married to this man. What does she do? Can she get divorced if she can't find him? I honestly have no idea how to help this family or what options are available for them. I know the children could participate in programs for children of incarcerated parents before, but now they are in a whole new category. What is available?

  • Answer:

A foreigner who was convicted of a felony so serious that he spent 5 years in prison should be deported, I would think, and I'm sure the majority of We The People would agree. The children have access to the same public programs they had if their dad would be still in jail, not having served only 5 years, but perhaps life. The deportation has nothing to do with the dad being unable to provide for them. Trust me, as a convicted felon he most likely would be unable to find employment anyway. So whose fault is it that the father was deported? The father's, and the father's alone.
