Is it true that immigration reform is not the best idea but it is the only realistic one?

  • Just to qualify, they only people that will be getting a path to citizenship are the decent people, whos only crime was to come here illegaly. We are not talking about criminals, gang members etc. We are talking about people who most americans would like and admire for their work ethic, faith and respect for the law (George W. Bush as I understand realized this and pushed for amnesty) Even the dream act has stipulations that say, any crime and you are out. If anything its a more realistic and humane way to deal with this issue that anything else. On any level its almost impossible to deport that many people, ICE deports 400k people a year and the planes are flying constantly. If we deal with the dangerous illegals who would hurt americans and help the good illegals who will help america isint that a win win situation for us all.

    Yes, we are talking about criminals. We're talking about people who have already demonstrated they have no respect for our laws or society. We're talking about people who have already demonstrated their intention to steal from the American people. We're talking about criminal filth, that NO sane American would admire. There is nothing humane and realistic about rewarding crime. Doing so only encourages MORE and MORE and MORE crime. The only sane thing to do is to create an environment where it's too hard to engage in these crimes to be worth the effort.

The US already has laws governing immigration. Millions of people have followed these laws in order to gain citizenship. People that are here illegally have disregarded these laws and should be sent back to the end of the line and not given a free pass.

you have pretty much got it.but because immigration reform is the only realistic solution that makes it the BEST solution. any mass deportation program especially implemented at this time would be detrimental. mass deportation has no gains and will deplete resources, and we should be focusing on keeping schools open, keeping teachers jobs, and keeping tuition down. immigration reform and a path to legalization poses an opportunity to make money when we can charge them a fine to become legal, and they will also become full members of society. this means they can now go out and by houses cars, get more education, get better jobs or at least better pay if they were used as cheap labor, and overall have a higher taxable revenue. but the majority people here on YA! immigration section are not going to be as reasonable as you and i are. they are too far buried in their hatred and for this reason are unable to think reasonable about this issue. just warning you

no.....in case your immaturity gives you no experience in abusive situations dude-----when someone or something like our immigration policy is abused....when you fail to act in a manner cohesive with written law dude----it leads to abuse and rationalizing.....to permit illegals to stay only gives them permission to do it again....hence, the current problem has only been fed by the last 2 amnesties given....one in 1986 and the other in 1996......the problems, crimes, murders, rapes, theft, identify fraud etc....has only gotten worse.....you or I could not get away with such atrocities......you or I would not be able to flaunt our criminality in front of people in our communities without quick and effective lawful detention.........
