How old do you have to be to get married in germany?

Can i get married in the usa, before i leave on vacation to germany if i am german citizen?

• Hello I am a german citizen and i am in the usa on a nato 2 visa through my dad. my bf and i would like to get married, but we dont know if we can get married, before i go to germany for 4 weeks to see my family. We thought we could get married now, and file the paper work for the permanent resident when i get back from germany. is that correct? or do we have to wait to get married till i get back?

  You can get married anytime you like. Note however that the minute you get married you are no longer eligible for the Nato-2 visa. This means you could be denied reentry to the U.S., although that probably wouldn't happen. Your plan is a little risky since your visa will be invalid the minute you get married. It would be best for you to stay in Germany and have your bf file a K1 Fiance visa petition. Or you could stay here in the U.S. while he files the Fiance Visa, but would need to return to Germany for the medical exam and interview. The Fiance visa is quite easy.
