Why would the USCIS deny my application?

Is there a limit of time by which the USCIS must either approve or deny an Applicant?

  • Is there a limit of time by which the USCIS must either approve or deny an applicant. My mom has been waiting for more than a year even though there is absolutely no reason why she would be denied. She did well on the interview. Someone made a mistake with 1 letter in her last name and now she has to wait for a response because every time she made an Info pass appointment all they told her was that she was undergoing security checks with the FBI. Im really frustrated for my mom because she does not deserve to have to wait this long without any response as to what is going on.

  • Answer:

One of my best friends is waiting for 7+ years now. There's nothing we can do to force USCIS to adjudicate his N-400. It would take north of $25K in attorney fees to challenge USCIS in court for this.

They can do what they want. They made me wait a year for an answer only to have it denied as it was out of the time constraints given. I got fed up and got a lawyer and had my green card a month later

they can take all the time they need security checks are top priority and can take years if they deem it needed but why not get a lawyer on the case
