How to dial a number from Canada to the UK?

I want to move to Canada at the age of 18, what number can i call in the UK to speak to someone about this?

  • I'm not entirely sure who i want to be speaking to, but i want to move to Canada and want some information on if it's possible and how to do so, but not sure what number to call. Thank you.

  • Answer:

Generally embassies and consulates are reluctant to take calls. You can email the Canadian High Commission in the UK, but they're likely to just refer you back to their website. Which is labyrinthine. You need to figure out what visa categories you are eligible for - if you go on a tourist visa you will not be eligible to work. If you want a visa that allows you to work, you can either apply for a work visa or try to immigrate permanently (the first is easier - you could apply for a working holiday visa for example --> http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/experience_canada_experience/index.aspx). If you want to immigrate it's less straightforward - you can either study in Canada (and graduate) then work there for a year OR work there for 2 years and then apply. Or marry a Canadian...

The only way you can move to Canada at the age of 18 is with a student visa. Therefore look up what you have to do for a student visa. The Canada immigration website is the place to start out at. Or the website of the school you want to go to. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

at 18 you would not qualify to immigrate to Canada on your own, this site shows you the requirements http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp Canadian government in the UK http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/contact-contactez.aspx?lang=eng

Look up the Canadian embassy.

you will NOT be eligible to move to Canada at age 18 as you will have NO SKILLS to offer, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list Canada will ONLY accept immigrants with professionals skills on this list - and NOONE ELSE. If you are not educated and qualified to do one of these josb then you are NOT eligible to immigrate to Canada at all. Good luck on paying for and getting your education. Canada will NOT Pay for your education.
