  • Just wondering, can you send a photocopy of your old/current passport when applying for a new one, or does it HAVE to be the real thing? My passport is my only id, and also im hoping to go away in february so dont want to book anything without a passport

    Go to the passport office in person with all the necessary documentation. Be sure you have everything as without the full set they will do nothing. A photocopy is not enough as the passport is a very special document with various codes and markings on it. These are not noticeable to the casual viewer so a photo copy will not work. It just would not be accepted. I cannot tell you what theses codes and markings are as they would be an aid to forgery.

You have to send the real thing. PHOTOCOPIES WILL NOT BE A LOUDED. In the UK just go to London and pickup you new passport in 4 hours on the same day. You will need to book an appointment. It will cost you tho.
