What should I know when moving to Sweden?

What do I need to know about moving to Sweden?

  • I'm a 20 year old, male, American citizen. I'm half Swedish, but I have never been out of the USA, or Canada...I've been researching it for a while, and I'm considering moving to Sweden. However, I want to know a bit more about what all I would need to move there, live there, work there, and even go to college there, etc. (I'm probably moving to Stockholm) I also would like to know what living there is like, how are the Swedes towards Americans, etc. ANY information would be extremely helpful! 1.What all do I need to have to move, and live there? 2.Would I be able to travel around the city using the public transportation system and a bicycle? 3.Would my American college credits transfer to a college over there? 4.Most Swedes speak pretty good english, correct? 5.What permits do I need to live there? 6.What permits do I need to work there? 7.I don't need to be a citizen to live there do I? I can apply for citizenship after living there for a while, correct? 8.I've been teaching myself Swedish, but obviously I won't be fluent when I first move there, how much will this hinder me? 9.I heard Swedes are shy...would a stranger on the streets be willing to take a second to answer a question of I had one? 10.How's the night life? I'm still young, and enjoy partying =P There's so many questions I have...I could sit here for an hour and ask questions, but I'm going to leave the rest to you. If there's anything I didn't ask that you think I should know, PLEASE tell me! I want to know as much as possible about all the requirements to move/live there. Please tell me everything =] Thank you very much for taking the time to read this post, any info will be MUCH appreciated. =]
