Indian New Passport Status - Tatkal?
-
I applied for New Indian Passport through tatkal on 31st mar 2011 (from shastri bhavan - chennai) and got the receept after paying the DD. Now, its 6st April and I am yet to receive the passport. Is the police verification done before or after receiving the passport? Also, the http://passport.tn.nic.in/status_enquiry.asp link for status enquiry throws an error saying that file number is wrong etc. Any ideas on how to approach to get my passport? or should I wait a little longer? Also my File No. starts with MASA.. Is this for Tatkal?

Answer:
I think they charge extra for tatkal like 2k or so. Your receipt should say so. Wait a little longer. I got mine through tatkal pretty fast, but i hear that the time varies quite a lot. You should get it within 14 days.
