How can I become an Israeli citizen?

How long must i stay in the US so my father can become a citizen?

  • my father who was born and raised in Mexico has been waiting for the day i turn 21 so i can migrate him over to the US but i had planned to go to school in japan and i must be present over their 3 months before i turn 21 .i plan on continuing my studies over their and becoming a Japanese citizen.i know it takes several years of process to become a citizen of japan and also so my father can become a US citizen.he lives in Nuevo Laredo and that is an extremely dangerous place so i wouldn't want to leave him over there, but do i have to wait for him to become a US citizen completely to start my own immigration process,or can i make him a citizen while in japan trying to become a citizen myself?

  • Answer:

You can file to bring him over .. that will take about a year ..you must be residing in the US as you have to sign the affidavit of support for him once he is here and with his green card ... citizenship will be 5 years down the road .....you are supposed to stay in the US but nobody will check unless he has to claim any goverment funds when they will come looking for you to pay

If you are not living in the US,you cannot petition for him to come here. Citizenship comes after being a legal resident for 5 years in the US. You will have to petition for him to become a legal resident which you cannot do if you are living in Japan. You will have to show proof that you are able to support him. If you move to Japan, your father will have to stay in Mexico.

. . . aside from the fact that you can only become a citizen of Japan if you can prove that you formally renounced your US citizenship.

you will never be permited to become a japanese citizen - they do not allow foreigners to become citizens ands you have to be living in usa for a MINIMUM of10 years as you must be willing to support him for 10 years after he is approved to immigrate No you cannot be living in a foreign country while you hope to make him a citizen of the USA - you MUST be living in the USA as well.

Nix your Japan study plans for the moment. You must file Form I-130, petition for alien relative. If you live in California, processing times take 6 months.
