Being a certified massage therapist how easy would it be to become a physical therepist from there?
-
I'm almost completed with my massage therepy training, and once i've finished I've decided to go into physical therepy. years of school and such, would it be easier for me to pursue into that field coming from massage therepy? Or would I have to go through the same amount of courses and such that anybody would have to do?

Answer:
Becoming a massage therapist first will generally have no bearing on your ability to become a PT or even a PTA. At best, it's going to give you an advantage in anatomy...assuming your MT classes included anatomy (however, most MT programs don't include full gross human anatomy, usually only muscular anatomy). You'll pretty much have to start from square one, complete a BS degree first, take all the prerequesites and then apply to grad school.

You have to start at the very beginning. Taking all the classes.

Being that most massage schools are certificate programs and not college degree programs, the classes that you took in massage school probably will not transfer into a physical therapy program. If the massage program you are in is an Associate Degree program, then it probably would transfer. Even if you cannot transfer the credits, having the massage background and taking all of the anatomy classes is good preparation for physical therapy school and you will have a much easier time in the physical therapy classes then other students because of your background. If you have already completed your bachelors degree, it is only another 5 years or so of additional schooling.
