What's it like to work at Starbucks?

My boyfriend and I both work as Starbucks partners. However, we would both like to move to America.?

  • we would like to apply to be police officers, We are not sure of how to go about this. Should we transfer from our Starbucks to an american based starbucks and then once we have applied for citezenship apply for the police? I have hard that you need to have had citizenship for 3-5 years in America before applying for the police. What would be the easiest thing to do?

    If you check out the websites below you will see that America only take people to work who are qualified in a few areas such as medicine, what they call Speciality Workers, highly trained workers, with degrees, in areas where they have shortages. The website below gives you an online assessment, I can assure you working at Starbucks will not qualify you. The US has a very strict immigration policy and unless you can match up to one of their various criteria the chances of getting a visa are less than if you won one of the green cards in their lottery, No British people gained a green card in the last lottery, I think the UK citizens were not allowed to apply. Sorry to be negative but it is better to have a target which is realistic.

if you are in the UK you have no chance of being transferred. Starbucks is a coffee shop not a big financial institution which requires skills and degrees. You need a green card to work in the USA and selling hot drinks is not on the list of jobs that are required.

forget about it. Unless you are US citizens you are not going to join the police force in the US. I don't think any position at starbucks except maybe manager would qualify you for a work visa - and forget about greencard - which you would need to get eventually citizenship. Also you both would have to qualify which is even less likely. There is no dependent visa for boyfriend or girlfriend. Make another plan. Also no job at starbuck qualifies you for police work. The easiest thing to do is to go on with your job as before. What in the world makes you think working at starbucks prepares your for police work anywhere? It's not like you have the opportunity to get drunk on your job...
