Can you work in Italy with a student visa?

I have just applied for a student visa and wanted to know if I can switch to a post study work visa?

    Only employers can apply for employment visas. You cannot. Given that 31 million Americans are currently looking for work, and the real unemployment rate is 22.6%, your chances of finding an employer willing and able to spend the time, money, & hassle to get you an employment visa are poor to nil. And that's if you have the requisite qualifications for an employment visa, such as H1-b. If you wanted - and were eligible for - OPT, you had to arrange that through your school at that time. At this point, it's too late. Now, if starting a new student visa at a new school and/or for a new program of study, you have to complete the program, then see if you can arrange OPT through the school in your new field.
