What is the fastest and easiest way to apply for Mexican-American dual citizenship?

Any way to get my citizenship faster?

  • I just got my permanent resident card about 2 years ago, and it takes 5 years to get citizenship after that. So i have about 3 more years to wait until i take the citizen test. My question is that i have one disabled brother (who also got his permanent resident card the same day i did, and he has about 3 years left to wait also) so the thing is he can't get any benefits, well he can but they are very very very limited and they will affect him when he applies for citizenship. He is not doing well right now i want to know if there is any possible way stated in the book's or anything to speed up his citizenship process. Should i call immigration and ask them or will i just have to wait it out 5 years?, and it is 5 years am i right? I would like to know if there is a way to speed up his citizenship process so he can become a citizen, and not stay at a permanent resident status. I don't really care about myne but i want to know about his is there a way, can i tell them he is disabled so please he needs help...

sooo you went to a new country and now you want that country to support your brother..That's not right.... Perhaps you should work harder to support your brother?

You really don't understand the purpose of the wait for citizenship, do you? It is so that you have to adjust to life in America and find a way to support yourself. It is specifically to PREVENT you from being supported by the American tax payers. If you want tax payers to support you, go back to your country and have the tax payers there support you. While you are here in America on a green card, if you can't support yourself, your sponsor needs to support you. Your sponsor signed a legal, binding document to support you. The tax payers did not. The only way for your sponsor to get out of supporting you right now is to ship you home.

Enlist in the US Armed Forces. You will become eligible for your US citizenship almost immediately. Additionally, there are no fees when serving on active duty. Unfortunately, being disabled he's not eligible to enlist. I would suggest that you/he contact your/his sponsor, the one who filed the Affidavit of Support.

NO the rule is 5 years, so you MUST wait 5 years!!! ALL new immigrants must wait 5 years before they are eligible for medicare and medicaid. why was he even accepted for immigration if he had such a bad disability? And why is your sponsor not helping him:? Thats is the SPONSORS job.

No way to speed it up so the taxpayers have the burden to support him. He has contributed nothing to this country, yet wants to get benefits that are meant for citizens. Whomever sponsored him for a green card is responsible for his support, not the US taxpayers.

If you want to get help for his disability, how about you return to your home country. Going back to your home country would be a lot better than staying in the U.S.

No, there is no way to speed that up. 5 years of paying taxes and staying out of trouble it is. Understand that if your brother uses 'means tested benefits' as a resident, that would be a violation which could prevent him from becoming a citizen ever. That's the whole idea of the Affidavit of Support that somebody submitted for you: making sure that no immigrant becomes a public charge to the American people.

Apparently none of the other people that answered read your question thoroughly. I think you are correct as far as the amount of time you have to wait to become a citizen. Unfortunately I don't think they will push your disabled brothers citizenship case along any faster, but it maybe worth asking an immigration attorney. To get your brother more help I would ask some local groups and church groups... someone must be able to offer him help or advise you of where you need to go and ask!
