Can you enter Canada from the US with a green card?

Can my husband use his US green card and passport to enter Canada? Will he ever be able to come back to U.S.?

  • I am a US citizen born and raised. My husband was deported about a year ago back to Ethiopia. He had one narcotic felony and one pending. I was told by the Canadian Embassy in Ethiopia that if he has a green card and a passport he could Travel there. Im guessing the U.S. flags and cancels your alien number even if they don't take your green card from you but I'm not sure. I didn't tell the Embassy that he had been deported from here. Unfortunately he had a terrible immigration lawyer and Ethiopia is not the greatest place to live. I know because I tried for six months. We have a three year old son together so I tried.

  • Answer:

Sorry no. ICE will detain him at the border and send him back to country of origin.

Other answers

The only reason why the Embassy said so was that you didn't tell them about your husband's deportation. No, I do not think your husband will ever be able to go back. He was banned for a reason...I'm sure you understand.

If your husband has a narcotic felony he is in the system and will find it very hard to go anywhere! I am sure the US has revoked his green card so that won't help. I think you and your son have 2 choices 1) get use to Ethiopia 2) forget about your husband and move on
