Wedding dress replicas?

I am interested in buying a Maggie Sottero dress style Emily which costs £1,200. After doing a little research I have found a website called bestprice.com who can do a copy of the dress for £175. Has anyone ever used this website and if so are they any good? Otherwise ayone know of any other websites which are good for this service?

Answer:
I work in a bridal shop, and we carry the Maggie Sottero line. I have brides come into our store all the time, madly in love with a certain Maggie gown she saw online, tries it on, decides it's the dress, and THEN asks us how much it is. I would say at least 50% of the time, the bride walks out of the store, without buying the dress. And, then I'd say that I see about half of them a few months later, after they've gone to a website to buy a "copy" of the Maggie gown, except it looks absolutely nothing like the dress it's supposed to, unless if you want to say it's long, and a shade of white. These brides at this point are usually in tears, because they're out whatever money they spent on their "copy" dress, plus they don't have a dress period. Those companies are usually based in China. In the US, what they're doing is illegal, because they'll use the photos directly off the Sottero website to advertise their products. In the US, that's called copyright infringement, but since the companies are in China, it's kind of hard to catch them. And, if the heat builds on these companies, what they do is shut down the current website, and open up another the next day with a completely different domain name. Oh yeah, but they sort of "forget" to let their customers know that they've done this. This whole thing just infuriates me, because these companies prey on customers who can't spend a lot of money anyway, and then they cheat them. If you want that particular gown, what I'd suggest is look on craigslist and ebay. On ebay you want to find a used gown, because those websites all have ebay "stores" too. Buy your dress from an individual who's selling hers. If you can find a designer consignment store, that would also be a good place to look for someone who's selling their dress. Check websites, and if the company is based in China, RUN away as fast as you can, and PLEASE don't give them any of your hard earned money! But know this, any authorized Maggie Sottero retailer is NOT ALLOWED to sell any Maggie Sottero gown online. The only way we can sell those gowns is through our stores. PERIOD. If we tried to sell a Maggie gown online we would no longer be carrying Maggie's gowns. Good luck in your search!

I would never trust my wedding gown to a knock-off website. You never know the quality, if it's gonna fit, if its gonna arrive in time, etc. If you want the Maggie, get the Maggie, it'll be worth it!!! Good luck!
My cousin ordered a replica of a dress she tried on from a company in China, and its was pretty darn close to the dress she bought. The pick ups were not exactly the way she wanted them, but it was an easy fix for a seamstress. The dress fit her perfect and was made to be a corset back or zip up back. It worked out perfect too because her zipper broke the morning of the wedding. Mainly because it was just a wee bit too tight! But, it had an alternative in case that happened. I however did not want to risk that and bought a beautiful Alfred Angelo dress brand new, and got it for a great price. My suggestion is to search around before you make a big decision like that. You might even be able to find a used Maggie cheap! I wanted one, and was looking at a used one for $650, and it was selling for $1200, but I tried it on in the store and it just wasn't the one. But $650 was a steal for it! Good Luck!
You may get something that is 'similar' to the dress you love, but do not think that the detailing or quality of workmanship will be there. It WONT be a copy of the dress, but if you are ok with that since your budget wont allow it, then give it a try, just adjust your expectations since will not be an exact copy of the gown.
