Honeymoon Hotels in Orlando?

Does this sound like a good budget for a wedding along with the rings and honeymoon?

  • 20000 - Honeymoon 2000 - Rings (Two Simple ones from Tiffany's & Co) 8000 - Wedding I know that the honeymoon sounds overrated but we've both agreed that its the most important. The first week will be on a private island, second in Miami, Third in Orlando. We will be spending $10000 on a private island for the first week in florida, $1500 on flights (first class), $2000 on hotels (3 stars) for the second and third week, and the rest will be spendings on ticket food etc. Overall, are there any holes or anything that sounds unrealistic or more expensive than we think?

  • Answer:

I think the budget on the rings, since they are from Tiffany's, sounds low, even if they are plain gold. I could be wrong since I haven't priced them. If you are only having 50 people, I think you could have a nice wedding for $8000...but if it's in NYC, that money will go quickly and your flowers/decorations/food will be on the simple end of things (which is OK). Now...I don't think there is anything wrong with you spending the majority of your money on a fun honeymoon. Not everyone is into weddings...and honestly, you could go to the courthouse and be just as married as if you spent $20,000 on a huge wedding. So, if you can afford it, spend you money how you want. Have fun!

I think you're lowballing everything except the honeymoon. Have you actually priced Tiffany rings? For $2000 they won't just be simple - they'll be too small to see without a microscope! And $8000 is very low for NYC. Even at the lowest end type places, bare bottom plate costs are around $100 and this only includes food. Right there, you're at $5000 and there's all sorts of remaining costs - dress, invites, postage, centerpieces, beverages, etc etc So, by my math, you may have to chop some off that honeymoon.

A trip is more important to you than proclaiming your love and vowing your intentions to be with someone for the rest of your life. You are free to spend what you wish and 8,000 certainly isn't unreasonable for a wedding, nor, I suppose, is 2,000 for wedding bands. 20,000 is a down payment on a house.

It's your money. You can spend it as you wish. But, in the grand scheme of things, you'll be one of the few people in the world that spend 150% more on a honeymoon than a reception. You don't really have a budget. You just have a limit for what you're going to spend. The goal would be to stick to what you've set.

I think that your numbers are completely off the mark. $2,000 won't get you two rings at Tiffany's, even if they're simple. You have to take into account the high prices of gold and platinum, and then remember that Tiffany's has a large markup. We got married 4 years ago (when prices were much lower) and my husband and I got plain platinum bands (NOT from Tiffany's), and we spent nearly $1,400. What sort of wedding are you planning on having? If you want to rent out a room in a restaurant, you can absolutely do it with your budget. I don't think you'll have much luck finding a catering hall, because of both your budget and the size of your guest list. Most of your money will go towards food, and then you also need to take into account attire, photography, decor, etc. I personally wouldn't spend $20k to spend 3 weeks in Florida, but that's your choice. And I agree with an answer above - a 3 star hotel isn't as nice as you think it is.

8000 for about 50 guests is a pretty good estimate for a nyc wedding. that gives you about 160 dollars per person to spend. most nice venues are right around 125 to 150 dollars per person. by the time you add in the cost of the wedding invitations, stamps, guest favors, etc, you are about right. you might want to re-think they 3 star hotel idea. 3 stars is pretty low quality for american hotels. you might want to go for at least 4 stars or try looking into some of florida's great bed and breakfasts which are normally very romantic and give you more bang for your buck. here are a few you might want to consider. in miami, http://www.miamiriverinn.com/ in orlando http://www.theverandabandb.com/ http://www.orlandohistoricinn.com/ http://www.casacoquina.com/
