why a reduced ring can be embedded into a sum of integral rings?

I have two engagement rings, which should I match my wedding ring to?

  • I have two engagement rings, I have the one he proposed to me with which is a family heirloom and a second ring. The heirloom is worth a lot of money and it is rather big, very sparkly and lavish. It means a lot to me because of how sentimental it is to him and his family. It actually means so much to me that I got incredibly upset when I thought I'd lost it once as I had taken it off in the kitchen to wash up, left it on the side and gone out. Even though I hadn't lost it as we found it that evening, my fiance bought me a second ring which is just a plain band which I now wear almost daily. I now wear the heirloom only on special occasions and keep it hidden the rest of the time so I don't lose it as we'd both be heart broken if I lost it. We're going to look for our wedding rings soon and I am not sure which ring I should match my wedding ring to as I would like two rings that got together. A friend suggested getting two wedding rings because I have two engagement rings but I want my wedding ring to be the one my fiance slips onto my finger at our wedding.

  • Answer:

Since the second engagement ring is a plain band, couldn't you somehow combine all three? A lot of women wear three rings anyway with an engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring, so maybe you could find a wedding ring which ties the two in.

choose the heirloom ring which means much a lot for all of you

I thought the wedding ring is just a plain gold band nothing else why would you wear two rings. Aren't you just suppose to put the engagement ring away?

The event engagement means the special occasion and all guest will expect some thing new on the occasion so I think heirloom is the best that you have to choose and it will match in your engagement.

for the wedding you should wear the heirloom and something that matches that. i am confused though..you said that your other engagement ring was a band and isn't that what wedding rings are (not engagement rings). If you can find a ring that matches both than that is ideal (this can be done if both rings are the same material- i.e. white gold) because a wedding band is allowed to be A LOT simpler than an engagement ring. however if they are made of different material (and it is not just the diamond size that separates them) than i would get one that matches the heirloom for the wedding ceremony (which is a special occasion). honestly, a lot of the time, wearing a simple wedding band every day is enough....some people prefer to wear both rings, but the symbolism is still there and it's more practical to have one ring on than 2 (especially a wedding band that doesn't have any diamonds sticking out). You can wear two rings everyday, but i know people who have an informal wedding band they wear every day (but no 2nd ring) and a fancy engagement and wedding ring.

The one he proposed to me with would be he special one that I would want to match. However, you say second ring is a plain band which is normally what wedding bands are so are you wanting another smaller diamond to go with the plain band?? Confusing. If not, just use the plain round band that the bought for you to be used in the ceremony, this will be your actual wedding band and the heirloom will be considered your engagement ring===unless you want another diamond solitaire, etc. to wear daily. Also, consider getting a good cz that looks like or is similar to heirloom and wear it for daily wear. You can explain if anyone asks about your lavish ring.
