Tell him that you love him and are not ashamed of him, and that you feel his offer of a secret wedding is insulting and you do not like that he feels ashamed of you. Usually weddings and ultimatums do not go together but in this case he either needs to give you a proper wedding you you need to move on to a man who isn't such an emotional an immature disaster. No way would I go for that. Wouldn't your families be hurt they weren't included in this huge event in your life? I know mine would, and so would my husband's. Don't you want your friends and family with you to celebrate? And why would you want to keep something like that a secret?

I think he might have thought it would be fun to run away and get married, then tell everyone later. It is kind of romantic, in a way. ;) Don't feel hurt about it. Just say you'd rather wait a while until you and he can have a regular wedding.

That does sound kinda messed up. What is his reason for not wanting to tell anyone? Maybe he just doesn't want to deal with all the fuss. Some guys don't get that weddings are a big deal for women. But also it is a declaration of your love for one another...

don't screw up your health insurance though your parents or your financal aid. think this all the way through. wait until you are done with school. you really don't want to acquire half his student debt do you? if you wait, his debt is his debt and your debt is your debt. if you acquire student debt together now you could be paying for his education 20 years after your divorce.
